When I worked at AIG, the insurance industry was struggling with high losses and price wars. The company itself was going through restructuring, mass layoffs and a new appointed CEO. My manager was given added roles and entrusted me with 42 accounts with minimal supervision as a first-year analyst. I successfully handed uncertain work policies and change of team members while acquiring $300K USD in new business that year. I also prevented a 6-figure lawsuit by negotiating with both the legal team and the client to settle for a partial claims payout. I gained various communication skills from handling Fortune 100 clients in the energy industry and very much enjoyed the relationship-building aspect of the role.
